Portable biogas unit installed

The first portable biogas unit (known as flexi-biogas) has recently been installed at Sheytemi. In coming weeks, 2000kg of manure and 2000litres of water will be added to start gas production. Then gas can be piped into the herder’s hut for cooking. Manure can be topped up each day via the pipe inside the blue bucket.

Once the biogas unit is running smoothly, the second unit will be installed at Chebling. Herders will be able to transfer the biogas units to Merak village when they are not residing at the winter grazing areas of Sheytemi and Chebling.
